Miami Sessions with Rod B. proudly presents Christian Smith - M.U.M Episode 201

Rod B. bring you the Miami Sessions @ Miami Underground Movement

Christian Smith has been at the top of his game as a DJ and producer for over a decade, but despite enjoying a global reputation as one of the most evergreen performers in his field, times have never been quite as good as they are right now. Born in Sweden, Christian spent much of his youth and early adult life in Germany and America. This exposure to different cultures gave Christian a broader ou
tlook than most 30-somethings, even for a well-travelled DJ more familiar with Star Alliance lounges than home comforts. This open-minded outlook comes through loud and clear in the music he makes and plays. While his roots lie in techno, Christian has never been a purist; favouring instead to flavour the tough, rhythmical music he loves with heavy doses of funk or intersperse the raw energy of his sets with inspired moments of pure euphoria.

2009 has been quite a ride so far, and the signs are all there that this year will be Christian Smith’s busiest to date. Having recently relocated to Sao Paulo, Brazil from Spain, it would have been easy to lose touch with the scene’s beating pulse in Europe. Not so for the man whose recent production schedule reads like a discography wish list. Christian Smith & John Selway’s “Total Departure” on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label was one of the tunes if 2008. This was followed by three singles for John Digweed’s Bedrock label which were all a massive success in the clubs and retail stores, as were his releases on Dubfire’s Sci+Tec label, Renaissance, and Steve Lawler’s Viva imprint. The Smith & Selway remix of the Kevin Saunderson classic “Rock To The Beat” was another massive success in Ibiza, and there were other superb remixes for Valentino Kanzyani’s Jesus Loves You, Nic Fanciulli’s Saved and Dieb Audio. The end result – over 30,000 downloads on Beatport in 2008.

The second half of 2009 will be dominated by the first in a trilogy of mix compilations for legendary clubbing brand, Renaissance. The release of Christian Smith – Platform in September will put Christian on a footing with other Renaissance acts Sander Kleinenberg, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela and Steve Lawler and provide the continuity for a mammoth 30+ date world tour that will stop off at parties across Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America over the coming months. As a DJ, Christian plays everything between house and techno. Never one for a purist approach, he simply believes that people go out to party. The secret is in the energy that he creates, as witnessed in 2008 at Wire Festival, Tokyo; Brazil’s Skol Beats Festival; Awakenings Festival, Amsterdam (featuring a Smith & Selway live show), Space, Ibiza (with Carl Cox), Ministry Of Sound, London (with Pete Tong); and Fabric’s new uber-cool, Matter alongside John Digweed and James Zabiela.

Honoured as Carl Cox’s “Hero of 2008” and with the success of his productions breeding a renewed energy for studio time, the natural next step was for Christian to re-launch his Tronic label. Kicking off in January with a re-release of the Smith & Selway’s classic “Move!” including chart topping remix from Steve Angello, the label has progressed at a pace to place Christian back at the centre of underground music. Featuring tracks from Umek, Mark Broom, Stryke, Fergie and Psycatron, Tronic has resurfaced with a bang and looks set to track Christian’s personal upward trajectory. Look out for future singles from cutting edge producers including Steve Mac, Ramon Tapia, Jim Rivers and Anton Pieete. With massive crossover support for his music from DJ's across the house and techno spectrum the future looks very certain for Christian Smith. Proof if it was needed that it is possible to reinvent your sound and maintain a position at the very top within the vanguard of electronic music.

Miami Sessions with Rod B. proudly presents Filterheadz - M.U.M Episode 200

Rod B. bring you the Miami Sessions @ Miami Underground Movement

Filterheadz are best known for their smash techno hits Sunshine & Yimanya as well as their highly energetic DJ performances.

It all started somewhere in the 80’s when brothers Bert & Maarten Wilmaers picked up their first musical instruments. Bert on guitar & Maarten on drums. Influenced by The Police, U2 & Simple Minds they took their first steps on the way to Rock ‘n Roll stardom....

Well not exactly. After a decade of hammering away in rehearsal rooms and local stages their dream to become rockstars took a surprising twist. Almost by accident they discovered the groovy rhythms of US House Music, influenced by Roger Sanchez, Masters At Work & David Morales the boys started experimenting with loops and disco samples. Their very first US style house tracks saw the light.

Armed with those tracks, the boys approached Belgian record company Headroom Music who saw the potential and took them under their wings. After a few releases under several monikers, they decided to go with ‘Filterheadz’, with the idea of releasing some more ‘Filter Disco’ records…things turned out slightly different.

Two things happened almost simultaneously. First there was their remix of Minimalistix 'Struggle for Pleasure' that turned out to be an instant classic in the progressive house scene. Prolific labels like Hooj Choons, Platipus, Bedrock, Yoshitoshi and Renaissance stood in line to call upon their remix skills.

The second, and most important thing: They discovered Techno.

Together with Belgian DJ Tomaz they embarked on a Techno Journey that would eventually lead them to Carl Cox’ Intec where they released their all time classic “Sunshine”. Two years later they would take their signature sound even further and release “Yimanya”, another big hit.

In the mean time extensive tours took Filterheadz to every corner of the globe and placed them high on the bill of events like I love Techno, Dance Valley & Tomorrowland and headlining clubs like Zouk, Womb, Ministry of Sound, Fabrik (Madrid) and so on.

Their remix engine kept running full steam: Green Velvet ‘La La Land’, Eddie Amador ‘House Music’, Delirium ‘Silence’, Faithless ‘I want more’ and Eric Prydz ‘Call on me’ just to name a few. Further releases like Cartagena & Endless Summer showcased their unique blend of techno beats and melodies.

The balance started to shift, less Techno & more melodic. Although tracks like “Day at the beach” & “Everything explained” on Sander Van Doorn’s label proved to be successful, clearly something was missing...

Looking back at their history and inspired by their heroes Marco Bailey & Carl Cox they decided it was time for a change.

The Phoenix rises from the ashes. 2012 not only marks the 10th anniversary of Sunshine and a release of a smashing remix package on 1605. It also marks the return to techno. With a string of new releases on MB Elektronics, Intec, 1605, Respekt & Toolroom.

Filterheadz are once again ready to rock dance floors all over the world.

Rod B. bring you the Miami Sessions @ Miami Underground Movement

JACKIE DJ from ZERO ABSENCE

Music was my first love...and still I'm in love!

If you ask him, what is most important in his life...he will answer to you: The Beat, The Drums,

The Bassline...The Rythm of the Heart: HOUSE MUSIC!!!

As long as he can remember he loved music...the Hard Rock of the 70's, the New Romantic Style of the 80's, the Beat of the 90's...in all this years of spinning around he never lost his feeling, always for the next evoluiton step. The reason is maybe that he lived most of his life as a Globetrotter, born in Vienna, growen up in Germany, for short periods he lived in Croatia, Switzerland, Spain and checking out club's all around the Globe as an Partyanimal.

He's DJ career started in 1987 in a small club in Dubrovnik/Croatia, where he played commercial records for the first time. In 1991 his journey took him back to Augsburg/Germany, where he was quickly noticed and regulary hired to play in numerous Club's and Festivals, also in 1993, one sunday morning, he invited some people to a Club in Augsburg just to continue one party – the After Party was born!!! For years was this Club in one basement, almost every sunday morning the last exit for Partypeople! In 1994 he opened his first Club called XTC in Augsburg. After 6 successful years he left Germany and went back to Ljubljana/Slovenia to open a new Club called KRA KRA for students. And in 2002 with the opening of his second Club SING SING he finally discovered he's love for House Music.

One year later he started again to organize After Party's and introduced himself to a larger audience side by side together with UMEK and other important DJ's in Slovenia. The „King of Afterhour“ was born!

From 2005 till 2008 he was resident DJ and promoter of the biggest Club in Ljubljana, called FACTORY,

In 2007 he played for the first time on Ibiza, that year he also celebrated his 40th birtday and 20th anniversary being a DJ together with 30 DJ's and over 1000 friends. The same year he recorded with his production ZERO ABSENCE his first track „ I found a Star“ and produced also a video during the AMNESIA WORLD TOUR 2007 (People from Ibiza). The track became a National Nr.1 hit and after the release for Behold Recordings/Miami he was invited to present the track at 6 gigs during the WMC 2008

Till now he played almost worldwide, from Miami to Ibiza, from London to the island of Pag – the Croatian Ibiza...(Club PAPAYA)...Italy, Turkey, Austria, Spain...etc.

After more then 20 years of playing across the world side by side with the biggest names of Housemusic, 2008 he took a personal break...2011 will be he's year again !!!

Keep on groovin'!

Miami Sessions proudly presents Radio Noise 500 - M.U.M Episode 194

Pioneer "is one that first opens or discover paths through unknown regions."

The career of DJ and producer Anderson Noise is a pioneer in electronic music from Brazil. Born in Belo Horizonte, Noise started slowly, as is the custom in his region, but never stopped to take some steps toward success.

In 1988, during the explosion of Acid House, started DJing in his hometown. Passionate about the profession, he often said that the role of DJ is move people. Followed by producing their own events from 1992, making room in the state capital for the proliferation of the electronic scene, still embryonic in place.

There were more than 40 parties produced, many in places like mental hospitals, shopping malls, car dealerships and historic buildings. The "Noise Family" became an institution, since in the event not only Anderson was involved. Mamma Noise, the mother of the DJ in person, was the hostess of the parties. Later Alvinho L Noise was excited with the turntables and boiled the dance floor next to his brother.

His first CD compilation, "Paralisia Cerebral"was released in 1996, while the dream of producing his own music became reality in the talented hands of Noise. In 1997 he was invited to include "Shantytown" in the "Electronic Music Brazil" the first CD of 100% national of the genre, released by Sony-Mercado Mundo Mix.

Without fear of expanding his horizons, Noise promoted the first trio elétrico "Truck with a mobile sound system" with electronic music in 1999 in Carnabelô Carnival out of season Mineiro, and became mandatory attendance in subsequent years. Without knowing it, acquiring the experience to face an even greater challenge playing on electric trio of singer Daniela Mercury, during Carnival in Salvador in 2002.

The DJ stand for something besides records, awards, won in 97 "Distinction Underground" by the magazine "DJ Sound." Both times that this category existed in the award, Anderson was the winner. Are there trophies for best producer and best DJ of techno music for the prize "Night Illustrated" Erika Palomino from the newspaper "Folha de Sao Paulo"; Sparks Trophies, prize won in 3 consecutive years, offered by the newspaper "O Estado Mine "for those who waved the mining scene, so that Anderson had turned into hors-concours. In the year 2003 was highlighted by Cool Awards, awards, in 2004, gave the award for best DJ.

It was music quality produced in Brazil to show to the world. "

In 2001 he became a resident of the night Headstart at Turnmills club in London, integrating a select group of Brazilian DJs that arose in the pool. While playing outside of Brazil shared the stage with great international names who came to the country. One is impressed with the quality of mining and DJ led out into the world. Carl Cox, one of the best DJs in the world, was impressed with the strength of Anderson Noise the first time they played in Brazil: "Anderson is very talented. He played with me a few times before, sometimes after. He also has his own label, Noise Music. They're good - too good to ignore. "In the 2001 copy of the" 2001 TOP 100 DJ Mag ", Cox classified Anderson as the future" DJ Hero. "

His third CD compilation came out in 2002 to please the Brazilian public.
